This Privacy Policy explains what information Feather Rally collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to keep this short, plain-language, and current. If anything is unclear, email us at timmy@featherrally.com.
Feather Rally ("we", "us", "our") is a platform operated from British Columbia, Canada that helps badminton communities organize rally days, clubs, leagues, and tournaments. The Service includes our website (www.featherrally.com), our mobile applications, and any related services we provide.
Account information you provide: name, email address, password (stored hashed and salted), preferred language, area, and self-reported skill level. Activity information generated as you use the Service: rally days you join or host, scores entered for round-robin / king-of-the-court / club match / tournament / league play, club memberships, and ledger entries (deposit / payment records held by your club admin). Device information when you use our iOS or Android app: device model, operating system version, app version, and a push notification token (only if you grant push permission). We do not collect: your phone's location coordinates, your contacts, your photos (other than a club logo you explicitly upload as a club admin), microphone, camera (except when you explicitly choose to upload an image), or any biometric identifiers.
We use the information we collect to: (a) operate the Service — show you rally days you've joined, schedule round-robin matchups, calculate league ratings, etc.; (b) communicate with you about rally days, club approvals, tournament status, and important account or service updates; (c) deliver push notifications when you opt in; (d) keep the Service secure, debug issues, and prevent abuse; (e) understand how the Service is used in aggregate so we can improve it. We do not sell your personal information, ever. We do not share your information with advertisers. We do not use your data to train third-party machine learning models.
We rely on a small set of trusted infrastructure providers to run Feather Rally. These providers process data on our behalf, only as needed to provide their service: Supabase (authentication, database, file storage — hosted in North America); Vercel (web and API hosting); Anthropic (AI features such as session description parsing — only the specific text you submit is sent, never your full account); OneSignal or equivalent push provider (transmitting push notifications you opted into to Apple's APNs or Google's FCM). We do not transfer your information to data brokers or marketing networks.
By design, the Service is collaborative — your name, club memberships, and rally-day attendance are visible to other members of clubs and rally days you join. Scores you record are visible to everyone in the same rally day or tournament event. Your email address is never shown to other users; only club and tournament admins can look up emails for the express purpose of approving members and managing entries. Public tournaments and the Browse page may show your name to anyone on the internet who views those pages.
Feather Rally does not process payments. Any cash or e-transfer between you and a club admin happens directly between you two. Balances shown under "Club balances" are an audit trail of those off-platform transactions, recorded by the club admin. We do not store payment card numbers, banking information, or government-issued identifiers.
If you install our mobile app and grant push notification permission, we register a device token with our push provider so we can send notifications about rally days, score updates, club approvals, and league match days. You can revoke permission at any time in your device's Settings → Notifications → Feather Rally. Revoking will stop new notifications immediately; we'll prune the inactive token within 30 days.
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Activity information (rally days, scores, club memberships) is retained indefinitely so historical standings and ratings remain meaningful, even if you stop using the Service. You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time by emailing timmy@featherrally.com — we will process the request within 30 days. After deletion, your name in historical scores will be replaced with a generic placeholder so other players' historical records remain intact.
Subject to applicable law (including PIPEDA in Canada and GDPR for users in the EU/UK), you have the right to: (a) access the personal information we hold about you; (b) correct inaccurate information — most fields are editable directly in your profile; (c) request deletion of your account and personal data; (d) object to or restrict certain processing; (e) request a portable copy of your data in a machine-readable format. To exercise any of these rights, email timmy@featherrally.com.
We use first-party cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in, remember your locale preference, and persist drafts you haven't saved yet. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or third-party analytics that build user profiles. We use Vercel Analytics to count anonymous page views, which does not set cookies and does not link visits across websites.
Feather Rally is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, contact us at timmy@featherrally.com and we will delete the information promptly. Youth tournament categories (Boys / Girls divisions) are for player classification only — accounts must still be created and managed by the player or their parent / guardian if older than 13.
Feather Rally is operated from Canada and stores most data on servers located in North America. By using the Service from outside Canada, you consent to your information being transferred to and processed in Canada and the United States, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
We use industry-standard safeguards including HTTPS for all network traffic, hashed and salted password storage, and least-privilege access to our backend. No system is perfectly secure; we will notify affected users without undue delay in the event of a data breach that materially affects them.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. For material changes we will notify registered users via email or in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
